Symbyax Uses

Symbyax for Treatment-Resistant Depression

For many people, simply taking an antidepressant can adequately treat depression. However, sometimes depression can be difficult to treat. You may have tried several different antidepressants (or even combinations of antidepressants) without experiencing adequate relief from your symptoms. This is known as treatment-resistant depression.

Symbyax is approved for treatment-resistant depression in people that have not responded to two different antidepressants (at adequate doses and for an adequate length of time) during the current depression episode.

Symbyax Uses in Children

Symbyax is approved for treating depressive episodes associated with bipolar disorder in children age 10 and older. Talk with your healthcare provider about the risks and benefits of using the drug in children.

Off-Label Symbyax Uses

On occasion, your healthcare provider may recommend Symbyax for something other than the condition discussed in this article. This is called an "off-label" use. At this time, Symbyax is sometimes used in an off-label fashion to treat depression that is not associated with bipolar disorder.
