Symbyax Drug Interactions

When you take certain medications (such as aspirin or antidepressants) along with Symbyax, drug interactions can occur. Some of these interactions can alter the amounts of the medications in your blood, potentially increasing your risk of side effects or causing the medications to be less effective. If drug interactions with Symbyax are a concern, your healthcare provider may adjust your dosages accordingly.

 

An Introduction to Symbyax Drug Interactions

Symbyax® (olanzapine and fluoxetine) can potentially interact with a number of other medicines. Some of these medicines that may lead to Symbyax interactions include:
 
  • Alcohol
 
 
  • Aspirin
 
 
 
 
  • Ciprofloxacin (Cipro®)
 
 
  • Digoxin (Digitek®, Lanoxin®)
 
 
  • Ketoconazole (Nizoral®)
 
  • Linezolid (Zyvox®)
 
 
  • Mexiletine (Mexitil®)
 
  • Monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs), including:
 
 
  • Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), such as:
 
 
  • Norfloxacin (Noroxin®)
 
 
  • Ofloxacin (Floxin®)
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
  • Warfarin (Coumadin®, Jantoven®).
