Seroquel Usage
Seroquel® (quetiapine fumarate) is used for the treatment of schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. It is an atypical antipsychotic medication that can improve symptoms of these mental illnesses and help prevent relapses (worsening of the conditions).
On occasion, your healthcare provider may recommend Seroquel for something other than the conditions discussed in this article. This is called an "off-label" use. Examples of off-label Seroquel uses include the treatment of:
- Behavior problems in elderly people with dementia
- Other behavior problems
- Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD).
Since not much is known about Seroquel usage in children, the medication is not approved for treating bipolar disorder in children or childhood schizophrenia.
