Can Children Use Asenapine?

Asenapine is not approved for use in children. Talk with your child's healthcare provider about the benefits and risks of giving this medication to children.

Off-Label Asenapine Uses

On occasion, your healthcare provider may recommend this medicine for something other than the conditions discussed in this article. Using asenapine for long-term treatment of bipolar disorder would be an off-label use, although this is expected to occur with many, if not most, patients.
Using atypical antipsychotics like asenapine to treat dementia-related psychosis in the elderly is another off-label use. However, this particular use is associated with significant risks (see Precautions and Warnings With Asenapine for more information).
