What Does Geodon Treat?

Geodon® (ziprasidone hydrochloride) is an "atypical antipsychotic" that is available by prescription only. Some people may wonder, "What does Geodon treat?"
 
The medication is approved to treat bipolar disorder and schizophrenia. Although it is not a cure, Geodon can help improve the symptoms of these conditions. It can also help prevent schizophrenia relapses (worsening of schizophrenia) and treat acute episodes of mania or mixed episodes (which involve symptoms of both mania and depression).
 
Healthcare providers may also occasionally prescribe the medication "off-label" to treat other conditions. Off-label Geodon uses may include the treatment of:
