Geodon Indications

Geodon® (ziprasidone hydrochloride) is an antipsychotic medication often prescribed for the treatment of schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. It can help improve the symptoms of schizophrenia and prevent schizophrenia relapses (worsening of the condition). The medicine is approved to treat acute episodes of mania or mixed episodes (which involve symptoms of both mania and depression).

On occasion, your healthcare provider may recommend Geodon for treating something other than the conditions discussed above. This is called an "off-label" use. Some examples of off-label Geodon indications include:

  • Treatment of behavior problems in elderly people with dementia
  • Treatment of other behavior problems
  • Treatment of Tourette syndrome.
  •
