Geodon Drug Interactions

When certain medications are taken together with Geodon, drug interactions can potentially occur. Drug interactions with Geodon can alter the levels of some medicines in your blood and increase your risk of a dangerous irregular heart rhythm called QT prolongation. Among the drugs that can potentially interact with Geodon are haloperidol, paliperidone, amoxapine, and certain antibiotics or antifungals.

 

An Introduction to Geodon Drug Interactions

Geodon® (ziprasidone hydrochloride) can potentially interact with a number of other medicines. Some of these medicines that may lead to Geodon interactions include:
 

 

    • Ciprofloxacin (Cipro®, Cipro XR®)
    • Clarithromycin (Biaxin®, Biaxin XL®)
    • Erythromycin (Ery-Tab®)
    • Gemifloxacin (Factive®)
    • Ketoconazole (Nizoral®)
    • Levofloxacin (Levaquin®)
    • Mefloquine (Lariam®)
    • Moxifloxacin (Avelox®)
    • Norfloxacin (Noroxin®)
    • Ofloxacin (Floxin®)
    • Telithromycin (Ketek®)
    • Troleandomycin (Tao®)

 

  • Certain arrhythmia medications, including:

 

    • Amiodarone (Cordarone®)
    • Disopyramide (Norpace®, Norpace CR®)
    • Dofetilide (Tikosyn®)
    • Flecainide (Tambocor®)
    • Ibutilide (Corvert®)
    • Procainamide (Procanbid®)
    • Propafenone (Rhythmol®)
    • Quinidine
    • Sotalol (Betapace®)

 

  • Certain phenothiazine medications, including:
