Equetro Drug Interactions

Cimetidine (Tagamet)
Cimetidine can raise the level of Equetro in your blood, increasing your risk of side effects. In general, you should not take these medications together, as there are many other cimetidine alternatives that do not interact with Equetro.
 
Cyclosporine (Gengraf, Neoral, Sandimmune)
Equetro can decrease the level of cyclosporine in your blood, perhaps making it less effective. If you are taking these drugs together, your healthcare provider may need to increase your cyclosporine dosage.
 
Danazol (Danocrine)
Danazol can raise the level of Equetro in your blood, increasing your risk of side effects. If you are taking these drugs together, your healthcare provider may need to monitor the level of Equetro in your blood and adjust your Equetro dosage as necessary.
 
Delavirdine (Rescriptor)
Taking Equetro with delavirdine (an HIV medication) can cause delavirdine to be less effective and may lead to a resistance of HIV to delavirdine and other similar medications. Talk with your healthcare provider before using these medications together.
 
Doxorubicin (Adriamycin, Doxil)
Doxorubicin can decrease the level of Equetro in your blood, perhaps making it less effective. If you are taking these drugs together, your healthcare provider may need to monitor the level of Equetro in your blood and adjust your Equetro dosage as necessary.
 
Doxycycline (Periostat, Vibramycin)
Equetro can decrease the level of doxycycline in your blood, perhaps making it less effective. If you are taking these drugs together, your healthcare provider may need to increase your doxycycline dosage.
 
Grapefruit Juice
Grapefruit juice can raise the level of Equetro in your blood, increasing your risk of side effects. In general, you should not drink grapefruit juice if you are taking Equetro. If your healthcare provider decides that you may drink grapefruit juice, you should do so consistently and in moderation.
