Negative Effects of Depakote

A number of people taking Depakote® (divalproex sodium) have reported experiencing certain negative effects. Depakote, like any other medication, can cause side effects. Some of the most common problems that have been reported with this drug include nausea, insomnia, diarrhea, and hair loss.
 
This medication has also been reported to cause a number of potentially dangerous complications. Depakote can cause depression, inflammation of the pancreas (pancreatitis), liver problems, and serious allergic reactions. It is generally recommended to avoid this medicine altogether if you have severe liver disease.
