Who Should Not Take Depakote?

You should not take Depakote if you:
 
  • Are allergic to Depakote, divalproex sodium, or any inactive components used to make the medication. Your healthcare provider or pharmacist has a list of the inactive ingredients.
     
  • Have liver disease.
     
  • Have a urea cycle disorder (see above).
