Depakote 125 mg

Depakote® (divalproex sodium) is a prescription medicine approved for several different conditions, including migraines, epilepsy, and manic depression. It comes in tablet and capsule form, and is available in the following strengths:
  • 125 mg Depakote tablets
  • 250 mg Depakote tablets
  • 500 mg Depakote tablets
  • 125 mg Depakote Sprinkle capsules.
The recommended starting Depakote dose for complex partial seizures is 10 mg to 15 mg per kg of body weight total per day. For complex or partial absence seizures, the starting dose is 15 mg per kg total per day. For either type of seizures, if the total daily dose is more than 250 mg, it should be split up into smaller doses per day (such as one 125 mg tablet three times a day).
The usual starting dosage for treating mania is 750 mg total per day (divided into two or more smaller doses per day).
For migraine prevention, the recommended starting dose is Depakote 250 mg twice daily. If needed, your healthcare provider can increase your dose up to 500 mg twice daily.
