Abilify Drug Side Effects

 Abilify® (aripiprazole) is a prescription medicine licensed to treat schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, autism, and major depression (when used along with antidepressants). As with any medication, side effects are possible with Abilify. Drug side effects may include:
 
Although most side effects of Abilify are minor and do not require medical attention in most cases, some are potentially serious and should be reported to your healthcare provider immediately. These include, but are not limited to:
 
  • Signs of diabetes, such as high blood sugar, increased thirst, frequent urination, and/or extreme hunger
  • Large or rapid weight gain
  • Suicidal thoughts
  • Dizziness or fainting when going from a sitting or lying-down position to standing
  • Feelings of internal restlessness or jitteriness
  • Any abnormal muscle movements
  • A painful erection of the penis that does not go away (priapism)
  • Signs of an allergic reaction, including unexplained rash, hives, itching, unexplained swelling, wheezing, or difficulty breathing or swallowing.
