Hair loss is an infrequent side effect of Abilify^® (aripiprazole), affecting between 1 in every 100 and 1 in every 1,000 people who take the medicine. However, given how common hair loss is within the general population and how rarely people taking Abilify experience hair loss, it is difficult to tell if hair loss is actually caused by Abilify or other factors.

 

If you are taking Abilify and hair loss becomes a problem, talk with your healthcare provider. Depending on how severe the hair loss is, there are things that he or she may be able to do. It is possible that if hair loss is bothersome to you, your doctor may recommend adjusting the Abilify dosage or trying another schizophrenia, depression, or bipolar disorder medication.
